Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has planned to conduct free health checks (CKG) for students in 200 thousand schools starting in July to accelerate the target of serving up to 300 thousand people per day.

In a discussion here Saturday, Sadikin informed that the CKG program has reached 5.8 million people since it was officially launched in February this year.

"Yet it has not met the target. Therefore, we will be conducting the free health checks at 200 thousand schools," he remarked.

According to him, the number of people receiving the CKG services daily is recorded at 180 thousand, or around four million people per month.

With an additional calculation of 28 million people participating in CKG until December 2025, he said he still considers the program to be lacking of participants when compared to the target President Prabowo Subianto has set.

President Prabowo has requested that all citizens in Indonesia participate in CKG. Therefore, the government is expanding the target coverage by targeting students at schools, he added.

Sadikin explained that CKG is the largest program implemented by the government with a target ot 280 million people, compared to the free nutritious meals (MBG) program which targets 82.9 million people per year.

"We have to cover all starting from birth to death. Now the number of daily participants reaches 180 thousand people, we want to push it to 300 thousand people per day," he said, adding that CKG plays an important role in early detection for disease by conducting various examinations, based on specific groups.

The CKG program targets three specific groups: CKG on birthday in which beneficiaries are eligible to access free health checks on their birthdays; school CKG; and CKG for pregnant women and toddlers.

The Birthday CKG offers examination services for children up to six and adults, aged 18 and above, he said while noting that the early detection will result in cheaper treatment of the potential disease.
