Trade Minister Budi Santoso said Indonesia supports the implementation of an electronic data exchange system for the origin of goods that can support its bilateral trade with South Korea.
"Indonesia will push for various efforts to enable it to diversify its export markets, including South Korea, amid the increasing global trade tension," he said in a statement received here Saturday.
Both Indonesia and South Korea have implemented the Electronic Origin Data Exchange System (EODES), which had been made effective in March 2024.
To optimize the benefits of the Indonesia-Korea CEPA in trade in services, Indonesia has proposed a Special Scheme for Professionals (SSP).
This scheme proposes that the South Korean counterpart provide facilities for Indonesian professionals to work in their country. As an initial stage, Santoso said this scheme will focus on the information technology and software sectors.
He also lauded South Korea for its willingness to implement the SSP and conduct an initial study for this scheme, including establishing cooperation with associations in related industries.

Besides discussing the Indonesia-Korea CEPA, Santoso and South Korean Trade Minister Inkyo Cheong also discussed the development of Indonesia's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Santoso welcomed the support of member countries for Indonesia's accession process, including support from South Korea. Indonesia's membership in the OECD is projected to improve the quality of policies, bureaucracy, and diplomacy in Indonesia.
Moreover, by joining the OECD, investment from OECD members to Indonesia is also expected to increase.
"Indonesia expects South Korea's support in the form of technical assistance at the technical review stage and expert assistance, especially in assisting the accession stage, considering South Korea's active role in developing OECD legal instruments," Santoso added.
