Jakarta (ANTARA) -

The Indonesian government has allocated up to Rp228 trillion (over US$13.8 billion) for the health sector in the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN), according to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

“The health budget in 2026 is projected to range between Rp181 trillion and Rp228 trillion,” she said during a plenary session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The session was held to discuss the government's statement on the macroeconomic framework and fiscal policy guidelines for next year’s RAPBN.

The proposed upper limit for the 2026 health budget exceeds this year’s allocation of Rp218.5 trillion.

The funding will be used to improve the quality of healthcare services, including through the strengthening of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program.

It also aims to expand access to quality health services and reduce the financial burden on the public when accessing care.

The budget will support key initiatives such as the Free Health Check-Up (CKG) program, accelerate efforts to reduce stunting and infectious diseases, upgrade health facilities, and provide nutritional support for toddlers and pregnant women.

Health is one of eight strategic government priorities for 2026. The others include food and energy security, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, education, village development, support for cooperatives and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), national defense, and the acceleration of investment and global trade.

The government is projecting a fiscal deficit of between 2.48 percent and 2.53 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2026—roughly the same as this year’s target of 2.53 percent.

Meanwhile, state revenue is expected to reach between 11.71 percent and 12.22 percent of GDP, while state expenditure is projected to range from 14.19 percent to 14.75 percent of GDP.
