Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto has called for strengthened collaboration between Indonesian universities and Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU), especially in higher education and applied research areas.

"I have seen many achievements over the past year. Hopefully, we can continue to work together," Minister Yuliarto noted in a statement issued here on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and NTU Singapore held a meeting on Tuesday (May 27).

On that occasion, Yuliarto also praised NTU’s commitment to supporting higher education in Indonesia and welcomed the prospect of further strengthening cross-border research partnerships.

Yuliarto also emphasized the importance of research that delivers tangible benefits to society and encouraged higher education institutions to play a key role in driving national industrialization.

In terms of human resource development, he reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to enhancing scholarship networks and student mobility programs while ensuring that partnerships in education and research significantly contribute to Indonesia’s economic and industrial transformation.

During the meeting, NTU Vice President (Industry) Lam Khin Yong elaborated on the university’s strategic partnerships in applied research, technology downstreaming, and engagement with global industries.

He highlighted NTU’s achievements in building a research ecosystem through industry partnerships, including collaborations with over 700 companies such as HP, Alibaba, and ExxonMobil.

NTU is also expanding its cooperation with Indonesia through the Inspirasi Program and the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), which have enabled dozens of Indonesian students to pursue research and advanced studies at the university.

In addition, a summer school program in partnership with the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya will resume this July, involving 60 students from both institutions.
