He stated that the championship can help develop high-performing athletes who can compete internationally and bring pride to the nation.
“Taekwondo is an Olympic sport that requires ongoing development and support. We hope this event will spotlight world-class athletes who can make Indonesia proud and contribute to the realization of DBON’s objectives,” he said in a written statement received here on Sunday.
Marciano emphasized that taekwondo is one of the most dynamic martial arts in Indonesia, and tournaments like the APM Taekwondo Championship offer valuable competition experience that helps shape a winning mindset.
The event also serves as a platform to scout top talents. “This championship will sharpen the athletes’ skills and enhance their performance levels,” he added.
Chairperson of the APM Taekwondo Championship Series 2 organizing committee, Nadia A. Marciano, explained that the event will be held at the Oemar Basri Syaaf Building, Indonesian Navy Fleet Command (Koarmada), Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, on July 4–6.
She added that the tournament is part of broader efforts to nurture young athletes in line with Indonesia’s target of breaking into the top five at the 2044 Olympic Games.
“That is why APM is hosting this championship -- because champions are born through structured development programs, intense training, and high-quality competitions followed by proper evaluations,” she said.
The APM Taekwondo Championship Series 2 will feature three categories: Kyorugi, Poomsae, and a combined Kyorugi & Poomsae category for beginners.
