"This consists of 2,678 personnel from the Regional Task Force (Satgasda), 254 personnel from the Resort Task Force (Satgasres), and 338 personnel from the TNI, National Police Headquarters, and local government," Head of Public Relations for Jakarta Police, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, noted in his statement on Thursday in Jakarta.
Indradi elaborated that the security deployment aims to ensure the safety and smooth running of the match; maintain public order and security; ensure the safety, orderliness, and smooth traffic flow (kamseltibcarlantas) around the venue; and provide a sense of security for the players, staff, organizers, and spectators.
Indradi announced the implementation of national-scale traffic management, taking into account the potential for on-site escalation.
He also appealed to those attending the match in person to behave in an orderly, peaceful, and sportsmanlike manner.
"Do not bring sharp weapons, alcohol, or any other prohibited items; follow the instructions of security personnel on the field; and it is advisable to arrive earlier to avoid traffic congestion and layered security checks," he remarked.
The Indonesian national team will face one of its most crucial matches in the qualification process for the 2026 World Cup as it hosts China in the Asian Zone Group C qualifiers.
The match is scheduled for Thursday at 8:45 p.m. local time at the GBK Main Stadium in Jakarta.
Indonesia currently sits in fourth place in Group C with nine points, three points ahead of Bahrain and China, who are at the bottom of the group.
China, meanwhile, is at the bottom of the group with two wins and six losses from their eight qualification matches.
Mathematically, Indonesia needs to finish at least fourth in the final standings to advance to the fourth round. Their opportunity to secure three points is now within reach, as they face the bottom-ranked team.
However, mathematically, China still has a chance to qualify for the fourth round.
With two matches remaining, Branko Ivankovic's team could still collect six points and finish the third round in third or fourth place with a total of 12 points.
