Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli underscored the importance of fairness and protection for workers at the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday local time.

"Indonesia believes the world of work must be built to be equitable and resilient to address various global challenges," he noted in a statement.

Addressing representatives of the ILO member states, he also responded to the ILO Director-General's report that highlighted challenges in the employment sector, such as rising unemployment, social inequality, and economic uncertainties.

He noted that Indonesia also faces these issues and emphasized the need for jointly addressing them.

He further affirmed that the Indonesian government continues to make efforts to create jobs equitably and sustainably, with a focus on the youth and vulnerable communities, including people with disabilities.

To this end, he affirmed that the government continues to develop training and internship programs to ensure job seekers' skills align with the current and future needs of industries.

In addition to job creation, Indonesia is also paying significant attention to workers' protection.

He explained that under President Prabowo Subianto's leadership, the government is strengthening social security and occupational health and safety systems, including protection against emerging risks such as occupational diseases.

Furthermore, the government is encouraging informal workers to transition to the formal sector to access better protection.

In terms of economic growth, he stated that Indonesia believes productivity is key, but growth must have a real impact on all parties, including both workers and employers.

In addition, at the session, he expressed Indonesia's full support for Palestine's people, who are currently experiencing a humanitarian crisis.

Yassierli noted that Indonesia fully supports the ILO's plan to create job opportunities for those affected by the conflict.
