In a written statement cited on Thursday, the minister noted that his firsthand inspection aimed to assure the public that the Educational Facilities and Infrastructure Revitalization program extends to Indonesian citizens abroad.
"As one of the oldest Indonesian overseas schools with a large number of pupils, SIKL has been playing a strategic role in catering to the educational needs of Indonesian children in Malaysia," he highlighted.
Mu'ti emphasized the government's commitment to delivering quality educational services to all citizens, as mandated by the 1945 Constitution.
In this regard, he stated that SIKL serves as a testament to the government’s genuine care for the educational needs of Indonesian migrants.
Furthermore, he noted that the school is linked to “learning studios” organized by Indonesian citizens in Kuala Lumpur.
"These studios are integral service units of SIKL, which are expected to help expand the reach of quality educational services for all Indonesian students in Malaysia," he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono explained that the government is working to expand SIKL’s building to increase its capacity by 50 percent to accommodate 750 students.
"For us, this expansion is not only about (increasing) capacity but also about ensuring a comfortable and safe learning environment for pupils," he stressed.
The ambassador also noted that the ongoing revitalization project is the result of a shared commitment among ministries to improve the education sector.
"Three ministries are working to provide learning facilities for the children of Indonesian migrant workers facing difficulties in accessing education," he stated.
