Sumedang (ANTARA) - The Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) is ready to host the second batch of the national retreat for newly elected regional leaders, according to Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto.

After inspecting the IPDN campus in Sumedang District, West Java, on Thursday, he highlighted that all facilities, including accommodation and classrooms, had been prepared to support the event scheduled for June 22–26 for 87 regional leaders.

"Based on my stay in the student barracks, the participants will need blankets rather than air conditioners because it is very cold here," he remarked.

Despite the readiness, Sugiarto noted that the venue could be relocated if some regional leaders have difficulty accessing the site.

"We may move to a more comfortable location," he stated.

The deputy minister remarked that Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian is set to directly open the national briefing, which will also involve several other ministers, similar to the previous retreat held on February 21-28 at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.

"The second batch of the retreat will conclude on Thursday afternoon or evening since the following day is a national holiday," he explained, adding that the materials to be conveyed would not differ much from those presented in the first batch.

In this regard, he assured that the central government would make the most of the upcoming event to raise the regional leaders’ awareness and understanding of their rights and responsibilities while in office.

"It is important to remind regional leaders of their responsibilities, rights, and applicable rules. All regional heads must fully comprehend their rights and responsibilities," he emphasized.
