“Today, I am truly pleased to have the opportunity to receive Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim in Jakarta. More than a personal best friend, Mr. Anwar has become a friend to all the people of Indonesia,” he said at a joint press conference at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
Prabowo emphasized that Anwar’s visit underscores the close and harmonious relations between Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
Earlier in the day, President Prabowo welcomed Prime Minister Anwar at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta around 1 p.m. local time. The two leaders then traveled together to Merdeka Palace in the same vehicle.

A state reception was held at the palace in honor of the visiting leader. During the ceremony, the national anthems of both countries were played, accompanied by a 21-gun salute. Afterward, the two heads of government inspected the ceremonial honor guard.
They then introduced members of their respective delegations before heading to the Credential Room for a guest book signing and official photo session. Later, they held a one-on-one closed-door meeting in the President’s office, followed by bilateral talks between the delegations.
During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on bilateral ties, regional dynamics in Southeast Asia, and global issues of mutual concern.

The Indonesian delegation included Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto.
It also included Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Wijaya.
The Malaysian delegation comprised Foreign Minister Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Higher Education Minister Zambry bin Abdul Kadir, Communications Minister Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, and Plantation and Commodities Minister Johari bin Abdul Ghani.
