As of May 2025, REC sales in the region have reached 95,909 units, equivalent to 95.9 terawatt hours (TWh).
This high demand reflects growing awareness among businesses about the importance of clean energy use.
Executive vice president of commerce and marketing at PLN, Fintje Lumembang, emphasized that the REC serves as a reliable, affordable, and competitive green electricity solution for businesses and industries.
The REC service has now been made available through the PLN Mobile app for easier access. Currently, eight PLN power plants are supplying green electricity to REC customers.
These include the Kamojang, Ulubelu, Lahendong, and Ulumbu geothermal power plants; the Cirata, Bakaru, and Orya Genyem hydropower plants; and the Lambur mini-hydro power plant.
To expand REC access, PLN and the South Sulawesi provincial government recently launched the Green as a Service (GEAS) REC feature on the PLN Mobile app.
The service aims to provide transparent, accountable, and internationally recognized validation for customers using renewable energy.
The PLN’s REC ensures that each megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity consumed by customers comes from verified renewable energy sources.
Welcoming the PLN initiative, South Sulawesi Vice Governor Fatmawati Rusdi said that REC services will benefit micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while fostering greater awareness of clean energy use across business sectors.
