Serang District Head Ratu Rachmatu Zakiyah said on Wednesday that Domas is one of the region’s key centers for vannamei shrimp cultivation using the biofloc system.
She invited Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, to visit the village and observe the shrimp harvest firsthand.
Zakiyah also praised village chief Ukon Hidayat for his innovative leadership, which she said had strengthened the village’s case for inclusion in the Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih program.
She noted that the proposal aligns with her 100-day work agenda, which includes promoting local food self-sufficiency.
Meanwhile, Minister Susanto expressed his appreciation for Domas Village’s successful implementation of the biofloc method — part of the ministry’s food security initiative supported by village funds.
“I commend District Head Zakiyah and her entire team, especially Village Chief Ukon Hidayat, whose innovations have turned previously unused land into productive and profitable biofloc ponds,” he said.
Susanto also voiced support for the proposal to include Domas in the Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih program.
“We will push for Domas to be included. The program’s budget is significant, and it can truly transform the village — not just in appearance, but also economically, especially in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors,” he added.
