Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung joined a mangrove-planting activity and distributed grouper fish seeds to fishermen during an official visit to Kelapa Island, Seribu Islands District, on Friday morning.

Upon his arrival around 8:40 a.m. local time, the governor was eagerly welcomed by locals. “Assalamualaikum. Good morning, everyone,” Pramono told the islanders.

After the welcome, he headed directly to the site designated for the mangrove-planting activity. Alongside residents, the governor planted mangrove saplings as part of an initiative to plant around 15 thousand mangroves across the Seribu Islands.

He then symbolically handed over 24 thousand grouper fish seeds to local fishermen.

During the visit, Pramono also reviewed the Nyiur Melambai Child-Friendly Public Space (RPTRA), where he joined children in a game of cat and mouse.

Afterward, he visited a local brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) facility, which converts brackish water into freshwater.

He then reviewed the reliability of medical services at a local community health center (Puskesmas) and a medical vessel operated by the Seribu Islands Health Office through the Regional Health Crisis and Emergency Center (PK3D).

“The ship is quite good, as it has an operating room. It also features a special room for taking care of patients with infections or COVID-19,” he noted.

Pramono also pledged that the Jakarta provincial government will promptly address all problems faced by residents on Kelapa Island.

After wrapping up his agenda, the governor proceeded to visit nearby Tidung and Onrust islands around 9:50 a.m. to meet local residents.
