Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta metropolitan police confiscated 11 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from three drug dealers arrested during a coordinated raid in Depok, West Java, and West Jakarta on July 10.

The suspects, identified only as S, 32; D, 30; and A, 34, were apprehended after police received valuable tip-offs from the public about their illegal drug trade in Depok City's Beji neighborhood area.

According to the Chief of the Jakarta Police's Narcotics Investigation Division, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ade Candra, here, Saturday, S, a resident of West Jakarta, was the first to be arrested on Thursday, July 10, at about 11:00 p.m. local time.

S was then interrogated, during which he told police investigators about his drug ring's whereabouts. Police quickly moved to apprehend D and A, who were staying at a house in Grogol, Petamburan, West Jakarta, Candra stated.

He revealed that during the raid at D and A's locations, the cops also discovered 11 large packs of crystal meth weighing 11 kilograms, concealed inside a black luggage along with a digital weighing scale and several other pieces of evidence.

The crystal meth package was supplied by the suspects' Sumatra networks and traded in the Jakarta metropolitan area, Candra stated, adding that the police investigation is ongoing.

Indonesia remains a key target for international drug syndicates due to its large population and increasing number of drug users.

According to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the number of drug addicts in Indonesia has reached 3.3 million, while the economic impact of drug smuggling has been recorded at Rp500 trillion.
