“The basic food aid is now being distributed in cash. Each beneficiary family receives Rp200 thousand (US$11.91) per month,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram account @smindrawati on Thursday.
The basic food aid program aims to help beneficiaries meet nutritional needs through the purchase of foods such as rice, meat, fruit, and vegetables, she explained.
According to Indrawati, the aid is channelled through the Finance Ministry’s State Treasury Office (KPPN) to the Social Affairs Ministry, from where it is disbursed to beneficiary families (KPM) based on National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN).
“The aid is not merely to give assistance, but also an effort from the state budget to ensure the people’s lives. We hope this social assistance will bring benefits to beneficiaries and have a positive impact on the welfare of the people," the minister added.
The Ministry of Finance had disbursed social assistance worth Rp48.8 trillion (US$2.9 billion) as of May 31, equivalent to 32.6 percent of the State Budget target.
The realization was slower than last year’s realization of Rp70.5 trillion (US$4.1 billion), or 46.3 percent of the State Budget target.
The slowdown in social assistance distribution was due to the quarterly program, Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, explained at a press conference on June 17.
He assured that social aid distribution for June would be accelerated following data alignment with the National Social and Economic Single Data of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
“We are also cross-checking with the Ministry of Social Affairs. The remaining distribution of social assistance in the form of Basic Food Cards and the Family Hope Program (PKH) for the second quarter of 2025 will be completed this June,” he added.
