"(The free health checks for students) have been running since the start of the school year, during MPLS. We started at Elementary Schools first," Head of the Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati stated at Jakarta City Hall on Friday.
The CKG for students, a program of the Ministry of Health, began in early July 2025 as part of the national strategic agenda to foster a healthy and resilient generation.
"Actually, the program is similar to the general CKG program because the CKG targets all age groups, including infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and those of the productive age. It started in April or May. Now, we are targeting school-age children," she stated.
The scope of the health check-ups is almost the same as the general CKG, including screening for eyes, ears, anemia, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and infectious diseases.
The CKG program for students began in People's Schools in July, followed by schools under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and Islamic schools (madrasah) in August. The program also targets Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and other religious educational institutions.
The Ministry of Health stated that the CKG is one of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's quick-win programs and marks the largest health check-up program ever implemented by the Indonesian government.
This year, the Ministry of Health aims for 53 million students as its primary target.
