Chairman of the NU Central Executive Board (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, said in Jakarta on Monday that all the pesantrens had undergone various processes, including verification, to be declared eligible to host such kitchens — officially called Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs).
"Indeed, we had to follow all the predetermined steps, but we are committed to accelerating our efforts going forward," Staquf remarked.
The government is expanding the MBG program by supporting the establishment of more kitchens across the country, including in pesantrens.
One such initiative was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed last month between the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Government Investment Center of the Finance Ministry, and the Committee for the Acceleration of Community Empowerment (KPPM).
The agreement outlines a commitment to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to participate in developing and operating MBG kitchens in pesantrens.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar emphasized that setting up SPPGs in pesantrens is a strategic move to shape a stronger future for the nation.
"This is a very good initiative expected to help produce quality human resources in pesantrens," he said during the launch of an MBG kitchen construction at Pesantren Syubbanul Wathon in Malang District, East Java, on June 23.
He also called on all elements of society to support the MBG program as a noble effort to advance the country.
"Indonesia offers a very suitable environment for good things — we just need to make a push," he added.
