“The government is determined to improve accuracy in the distribution of SPHP rice. The Bapanas has pushed Bulog to ensure that SPHP rice, offered in five-kilogram packages, reaches the people,” he said in Jakarta on Monday.
He reported that as of July 18, 2025, as much as 860.7 thousand kilograms of the subsidized rice has been released in the market and warned stakeholders in the distribution chain against tampering with the rice, including adulterating it.
He then said that his office is collaborating with the food task force of the National Police (Polri) and the Ministry of Trade to maintain and monitor the quality of SPHP rice, which he sees as vital support for economically disadvantaged citizens.
“In short, SPHP rice must be offered to the public at its intended quality,” Prasetyo affirmed.
In a letter signed on July 8, the Bapanas head ordered Bulog to resume the distribution of SPHP rice. Around 1.3 million tons of the rice is expected to be released by the end of this year.
To execute its task, Bulog has partnered with a wide range of stakeholders, including ministries, agencies, Polri, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), state-run enterprises, regional governments, and cooperatives formed under the Red and White Village Cooperatives program.
The government has set the highest retail price for SPHP rice at Rp12,500 (US$0.76) to Rp13,500 (US$0.82) per kilogram and limited consumer purchases to two packages, or 10 kilograms of rice, each.
