According to the chairperson of DPR’s Commission II, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, the hearing is set to take place after the parliament’s recess period, which will run from July 25 to August 15, 2025.
“We will summon the OIKN after the upcoming recess period with the objective of ensuring that Nusantara is well-prepared to become an active capital city,” he told the media at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The lawmaker revealed the plan in response to a proposal from his deputy, Aria Bima, suggesting that the government relocate the offices of state-owned enterprises to Nusantara if the city is not yet ready to be officially declared the capital.
He backed the suggestion, noting that the government needs to make the most of the existing facilities in the city, which have been developed using around Rp130 trillion (roughly US$8 billion) from the State Budget and nearly Rp60 trillion in investment.
“The future capital city currently has the capacity to accommodate some 15 thousand civil servants in houses or flats whose rents are borne by the state. In fact, office buildings have also been readied,” Karsayuda said.
Earlier, DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad assured the public that the government has set clear development and utilization targets for Nusantara and its facilities.
“We have assessed the situation there, confirming that the city’s development is proceeding according to the budget allocated by the government,” he said at the Parliamentary Complex on Monday.
However, he emphasized that any decision to execute the capital relocation or accelerate Nusantara’s development must take into account future budget allocations.
“I do not know yet whether the 2026 budget will be increased or not, but there are targets from the government regarding readiness for the move. We will just follow them,” he said.
