Kabupaten Tangerang (ANTARA) - The Tangerang District Government in Banten Province has launched a free health check program (CKG) for high school and vocational school students throughout 29 sub-districts.

Tangerang District Head Moch Maesyal Rasyid stated on Wednesday that the student health check program is part of a national strategic agenda initiated by the Ministry of Health to build a healthy and resilient generation.

“For the first time, we are conducting free health checks simultaneously in schools across all 29 sub-districts,” he remarked.

He explained that this health initiative continues the previous CKG program conducted during the district's anniversary, now targeting students in senior high schools (SMA), vocational high schools (SMK), and Islamic senior high schools (Aliyah).

“This is part of our obligation as a local government. Free health checks are not only being conducted in schools but also at other healthcare facilities,” he remarked.

Rasyid stated that the Tangerang District Government aims to reach 1.2 million residents through this free health check initiative.

“We have actually implemented this annually. However, now, President Prabowo Subianto has instructed us to resume and expand the program,” he noted.

He further expressed hope that the program would encourage both the general public and school students in Tangerang District to participate and contribute positively to the target of building a golden generation by 2045.

“We are also encouraging the public to take part in this free health check program,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Tangerang District Health Agency Head Dr. Hendra Tarmizi remarked that the health screenings cover the same areas as the general CKG program, including eye and ear exams, anemia screening, and checks for non-communicable and communicable diseases.

“We are also including iron supplement distribution to female adolescents as part of the stunting prevention effort,” he explained.

According to Tarmizi, this program is one of the quick wins initiated by President Prabowo Subianto and is considered the largest health screening initiative ever conducted by the government.

Hence, he emphasized that the local government will continue to encourage public participation to address health challenges.

“According to the Ministry of Health's target, 30 percent of the population must be served. For us, that means 1.2 million people must receive these free health checks,” he remarked.
