“As of June 30, 2025, a total of 97 Posbakum have been established and are actively operating across Central Sulawesi,” head of the division for legislation and legal development at the ministry’s Central Sulawesi Regional Office, Sopian, informed in Palu on Thursday.
He said that the establishment and development of legal aid posts in villages and urban neighborhoods is a flagship program designed to improve access to legal help, particularly for vulnerable groups that have limited exposure to formal legal services.
According to Sopian, the Posbakum are expected to address the needs of rural communities, who often struggle to obtain legal assistance.
Central Sulawesi also has 18 verified legal aid organizations (OBH) that are actively providing legal services to residents, in line with Law No. 16 of 2011 on Legal Aid.
“These organizations play a key role in delivering structural legal assistance and community advocacy,” he added.
Meanwhile, head of the Central Sulawesi Regional Office, Rakhmat Renaldy, emphasized that expanding legal access through Posbakum and legal literacy is part of a national strategy to build a culture of law, starting from the village level.
“Village legal aid posts are not merely administrative programs. They represent the state’s presence within society,” he said.
He added that the ministry is continuing to encourage the integration of legal services into daily life, especially in villages, which serve as the foundation of Indonesia’s legal structure.
He further stressed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening legal development at the regional level, particularly through the expansion of legal aid services down to the village and sub-district levels.
“Legal development must not rely solely on structural approaches. It must also be supported by educational and cultural approaches,” he added.
