While confirming that the decree can be signed after all administrative procedures are completed, Ardiantoro has yet to ascertain the details of the decree or the definite time when Prabowo will sign it.
"We are waiting for the complete information. (It will be signed) immediately. It must not take too long," the deputy minister stated at the Presidential Palace Complex on Friday, in response to the progress of Lembong and Kristiyanto's clemencies.
On Wednesday (July 30), President Prabowo Subianto requested the parliament's advice regarding the proposed clemency for former Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, who was convicted of corruption.
House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad announced that the parliament had approved Lembong's clemency on the following day.
At the same event, Ahmad stated that the parliament also approved the proposed presidential amnesty for 1,116 inmates, including Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, found guilty of bribery.
Thomas Lembong was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for corruption related to the improper issuance of sugar import permits, causing state losses of Rp194.72 billion.
Meanwhile, Kristiyanto was convicted of bribery in a parliament replacement process involving fugitive Harun Masiku and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.
The president's authority to grant clemency and amnesty, taking into account the DPR's advice, is stipulated in Article 14 of the Indonesian Constitution.
