Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin welcomed his Singaporean counterpart, Chan Chun Sing, at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to ANTARA’s observation, the Singaporean defense minister arrived at 10:36 a.m. local time and was greeted directly by Minister Sjamsoeddin and his delegation.

The two ministers then took part in a welcome ceremony featuring the national anthems of both countries.

Sjamsoeddin invited Chan to inspect the ceremonial troops and pay respects to a statue of Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno, depicted on horseback.

Following the ceremony, the ministers proceeded into the Defense Ministry building for a closed-door meeting, during which they were expected to exchange views on a number of issues, including efforts to deepen bilateral military and defense cooperation.
