During a coordination meeting on rice management here on Wednesday, he underscored that markets are the most suitable locations for distributing SPHP rice.
“If possible, it (rice distribution) should reach 10 thousand (tons) per day so that we can reach 300 thousand in a month,” he said.
Currently, the rate of distribution is just 2,500 tons per day. The government has decided to distribute 1.3 million tons of rice under the SPHP program in stages.
The minister said he is optimistic that the distribution of SPHP rice can be increased once the main harvest season arrives.
“That harvest season will come next month, this September (2025). There are still three weeks left,” he added.
Hasan also confirmed that the current rice stocks at Bulog warehouses are still at a safe level of around 3.9 million tons.
The government is distributing SPHP rice from July 17 to December 31, 2025, to control and stabilize prices.
For the rice distribution, Bulog has partnered with several stakeholders, including ministries, agencies, the National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), state-run enterprises, and regional governments.
The government has set the highest retail price for SPHP rice in the range of Rp12,500 (US$0.76) to Rp13,500 (US$0.82) per kilogram and limited consumer purchases to two packages, or 10 kilograms of rice, each.
