Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar has launched the integration of social security literacy and education at Airlangga University, Surabaya, East Java.

“We hope that universities, academics, and scientists will become part of the ecosystem to strengthen the development of national social security,” he said at the grand launch of the “Strengthening of the Social Security Ecosystem through Education” at Airlangga University on Thursday.

He cited numerous studies and research conducted in various countries to enrich the body of knowledge on social security systems. Integrating social security literacy into university curricula is expected to spark similar studies in Indonesia.

“Their various advances, including in the areas of studies and research, have provided stronger knowledge to support the social security system. Second, they have prepared human resources to implement the social security system,” he said.

The minister expressed the hope that collaboration with universities, particularly in research, would support the emergence of technological innovations to boost the social security system.

“This is what is called a new ecosystem that will grow, becoming part of our educational curriculum, part of our knowledge, and at the same time, growing into innovation and technological advancement,” he said.

According to Iskandar, social security is not just a program, but the right of every citizen. Therefore, it is important to build awareness about social security through education.

The social security ecosystem can be strengthened through education by ensuring that the younger generation knows, understands, and plays an active role in the ecosystem.

“The goal is to build collective awareness from school,” he said.

Social security cover, such as National Health Insurance (JKN), Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Job Loss Insurance (JKP), Old Age Security (JHT), Pension Insurance (JP), and Death Insurance, offers protection to citizens from various life risks.

“Through education, we instill values. With social security, we protect the future. Together, we create a more prosperous, inclusive, and just Indonesia,” he said.
