Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto highlighted that the 2026 State Budget is designed to realize a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous Indonesia.

"This is the first state budget that I drafted as President of the Republic of Indonesia. The 2026 State Budget architecture is the implementation of my vision and mission together with the Vice President," he said.

The president conveyed this in his speech on the Draft State Budget (RAPBN) for the 2026 fiscal year and financial notes at the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR), marking the opening of the 2025–2026 sitting period at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Friday.

President Prabowo underscored that resilience is the foundation for self-reliance and people's welfare.

"We will strengthen resilience in food, energy, economy, and defense. Natural resources must be managed for the interests of the people, not only for certain groups in Indonesia," he emphasized.

The DPR plenary session was attended by 473 DPR members from all factions as well as Red and White Cabinet ministers, including Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Earlier on the same day, President Prabowo Subianto delivered his State of the Nation Address at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) and the DPR at the Parliamentary Complex.

In his speech, he highlighted that Indonesia's ultimate purpose of independence is to free the people from poverty.

"Our country must be sovereign in its economy and achieve food self-sufficiency," Prabowo said.

The president expressed his optimism that Indonesia will achieve its food self-sufficiency goal with the support of its diverse natural resources.
