The oath-taking ceremony took place on Saturday, at the State Palace in Jakarta, attended by former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, who chairs the Steering Council of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).
Led by Ritha Lovely Ayomi, a Paskibraka member from West Papua, the ceremony began with the national anthem Indonesia Raya, followed by BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi guiding the 76 youths in reciting the Paskibraka Pledge.
During the procession, Wahyudi instructed the ceremony leader to hold the Red-and-White flag in her right hand and rest it against her chest.
In their oath, the Paskibraka members affirmed their loyalty to the Indonesian nation, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, the 1945 Constitution, and the national ideology Pancasila.
They also pledged to work toward a just and prosperous society founded on Pancasila values and respect for the nation’s cultural diversity.
As future leaders of Indonesia, the 76 youths vowed to uphold the spirit of independence and continue the nation’s struggle.
“Based on these statements and in the name of my honor as a cadre of the nation, I hereby promise my best to actualize this oath in my everyday life. May God Almighty bless my goodwill,” the troop members declared in unison.
After the pledge, the BPIP head instructed the ceremony leader to kiss the national flag.
Minister Hadi then read an official statement inaugurating the 76 teenagers as members of the Independence Day ceremony troop.
“In the name of God Almighty, I hereby inaugurate the 2025 National Heirloom Flag-Raising Troop that will carry out the ceremony at Merdeka Palace on August 17. May God bless and guide you in fulfilling this state duty,” he said.
Alongside Megawati, the minister later congratulated the newly inaugurated flag raisers. The event concluded with a group photo and a chant by the troop.
