Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Board of Zakat (Baznas), in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, has distributed humanitarian aid to Palestinian families taking refuge in Egypt.

"We want our Palestinian brothers in Egypt to be able to meet their daily needs and live properly," Baznas Deputy Chair Mokhamad Mahdum said in a statement released on Saturday.

He noted that many of the refugees arrived in dire condition, some with injuries from the conflict, while others had no steady income to sustain themselves in camps.

"Most of them need regular cash assistance for food, medicine, and other essentials. Their situation requires continuous support, not just one-time aid," Mahdum emphasized.

Before the distribution, Baznas and the Indonesian Embassy met with their local partner, Misr Al Kheir, to discuss both immediate delivery of assistance to Gaza and future cooperation for refugees in Egypt.

Baznas National Coordinator Ahmad Sudrajat expressed gratitude to Al Kheir for its support.

"Thank you to the people of Indonesia for your contributions. We will continue doing our best to deliver aid to Palestinian families, including those in Gaza," he said.
