The aid packages were handed out during a ceremony at Piwang Beach, East Bunguran Subdistrict, where Natuna District Head Cen Sui Lan was also present.
Kogabwilhan I Commander Lt. Gen. Kunto Arief Wibowo said the humanitarian effort reflects the military's commitment to supporting the welfare of communities in the country's outermost and border regions.
The initiative aims not only to ease economic burdens but also to strengthen regional defense and build stronger ties between the military and local communities, Wibowo said.
"This is proof that the state is present, even in the farthest corners of the country," he said while emphasizing the Army, Navy, and Air Force's synergy that has made the community service program successful.
Lan thanked the military for selecting the island as the distribution site, saying that it shows the commander's strong attention to those living on the edge of the nation's borders.
ANTARA noted that Natuna plays a key role in Indonesia's defense strategy due to its proximity to the contested South China Sea.
The government continues to bolster security in the area amid frequent passage of foreign vessels through Natuna waters.
