She said the price of medium-quality rice distributed through the government's Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP) remains within reach for residents.
The government has set the highest retail price (HET) at Rp12,500 per kilogram for medium rice and Rp14,900 per kilogram for premium rice.
Parawansa explained that she visited Pasar Soponyono to monitor the distribution and pricing of SPHP rice.
"Praise be to God, SPHP rice at Pasar Soponyono in Surabaya is not being sold above the HET," she said.
During the visit, she also spoke with market vendors about rice supplies. At the market, premium rice was sold at an average of Rp15,000 per kilogram, or Rp500 above the HET.
Parawansa said she had proposed to the central government that the supply of SPHP rice be increased to meet local demand.
In addition to rice, the governor also checked the prices of other basic goods, including sugar, cooking oil, and wheat flour.
"We noted that several commodities were sold slightly above the HET, such as premium rice and Minyakita [subsidized cooking oil]," she said.
Parawansa added that the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) continues to intervene through market operations to stabilize prices and curb inflation.
"We want to ensure that the people of East Java truly feel the benefits of this stabilization program. We must keep inflation under control," she said.
