Mataram, NTB (ANTARA) - Transmigration Minister M Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara announced that a school revitalization program will be carried out in 154 transmigration area across Indonesia.

"The program will renovate schools in all 154 transmigration area, including improvement to toilet facilities," said Iftitah in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Friday.

He explained that although the Ministry's budget affected by the automatic adjustment (budget blocking) that already available since July 2025, the revitalization process was hampered because it requires a tender process for the physical construction work.

For this reason, the program is expected to begin October or November this year, he added.

According to Iftitah, the school revitalization program aims to improve the quality of education for children in Transmigration area, support balanced regional development, and enhance the appeal of these areas as new growth centers.

Iftitah mentioned that West Nusa Tenggara Province has four transmigration areas, all of which will participated in the school revitalization program.

"In West Nusa Tenggara, the program will cover Tambora in Bima, Labangka in Sumbawa, Tongo Sekongkang in West Sumbawa, and Selaparang in East Lombok. In those four locations," she said.

He also announced plans to visit the Selaparang transmigration area on Saturday (Aug 30) to explore the potential for developing an integrated education area.

This zone could eventually become the location of Sekolah Rakyat, a Garuda Excellence School, and a Patriot Campus.

"I will visit Selaparang tomorrow to look for opportunities. If there is enough land there, and I've heard Selaparang is very beautiful, we could create an educational district," Iftitah added.
