Akhmad Munir secured the position after winning 52 votes at the 2025 PWI Congress, held at the Information and Communication Technology Training and Development Center (BPPTIK) of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) in Cikarang, West Java, on Saturday.
Meanwhile, another candidate, Hendry Ch. Bangun, received 35 votes.
On the same occasion, the Congress also elected the Chairman of the PWI Central Honorary Council. Atal S. Depari won the post with 44 votes, narrowly defeating Sihoni HT, who gained 42 votes.
Following the vote count, PWI members cheered Munir’s victory. Both Munir and Atal Depari were then draped with traditional Bugis silk scarves as a symbol of triumph.
