The Student Executive Board Forum of Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) stated on Instagram that Rheza had joined a demonstration earlier that day.
“We don’t yet know the circumstances. We cannot confirm anything until an investigation is carried out. We only received the information this afternoon,” said Ahmad Fauzi, Amikom’s Vice Rector III for Student Affairs.
Alfito Afriansyah, chairman of the university’s Student Executive Board (BEM), echoed the uncertainty, stating the full chronology of Rheza’s activities remains unclear.
“As the Vice Rector said, we haven't completed an investigation. We still don’t know what actually happened,” Alfito said.
Regarding Rheza’s alleged participation in the demonstration, BEM said it is still collecting information.

“We’re continuing to gather data and hope to piece together a clearer picture of the events,” Alfito added.
Dr Sardjito Hospital confirmed that Rheza was admitted before his death, but did not specify whether it was linked to the protest.
“Yes, the patient was treated here, but we cannot confirm if it was due to the demonstration,” said Banu Hermawan, the hospital’s Legal and Public Relations Manager.
As of this report, the Yogyakarta Police (Polda DIY) have not issued an official statement on the cause of death or any connection to the demonstration.
Earlier, Yogyakarta Provincial Police Spokesperson Commissioner Ihsan reported that demonstrators attacked the police headquarters from late Saturday to early Sunday.
Around 50 individuals began throwing stones, firecrackers, and Molotov cocktails at 9:40 p.m., escalating tensions. Clashes intensified as nearby residents got involved, swelling the crowd to around 500 people.
The unrest continued until 6:00 a.m., when TNI and police personnel dispersed the rioters. Authorities detained dozens, including school students, and seized sharp weapons and two Molotov cocktails.
Six people were injured—five protesters and one officer.
