"We took actions based on the facts, and these seven personnel are members of the National Police's Mobile Brigade," the Head of the Professional Supervision and Development Bureau of the National Police, Brigadier General Agus Wijayanto, informed in a press conference on Monday.
He made this statement in response to social media posts suspecting that the Brimob personnel involved in the death of Affan Kurniawan, shown to the public, were body doubles.
The seven Brimob personnel are Police Commissioner K, Police Brigadier R, Second Adjunct Inspector R, First Brigadier D, Second Brigadier M, Senior Patrolman J, and Senior Patrolman Y.
Wijayanto also informed that the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has verified the identities of the seven Brimob personnel.
"We granted full access to Kompolnas. They had seen the official ID cards," he added.
Kompolnas Commissioner Muhammad Choirul Anam stated that his agency had verified the personnel through various means.
"We directly checked their official identity cards matched their faces, and then dug up a brief history of their role in the armored vehicle," he explained.
As a result, Kompolnas determined that the seven individuals were indeed Brimob members.
Previously, seven Brimob personnel were involved in the armored vehicle case that overran and killed Affan Kurniawan.
Those personnel were found to have violated the police code of ethics. They were also found to have committed serious and moderate violations.
The incident took place on the evening of August 28, following various community groups holding a demonstration around the parliamentary complex in Jakarta that were forced to retreat by the police.
As a result, chaos spread across various areas around the parliamentary complex, from Palmerah, Senayan, to Pejompongan.
