Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait stated that the Housing People's Business Credit (KUR) can boost the national economy.

"I am confident that the Housing KUR will help entrepreneurs expand their businesses, boost economic growth, and the people in the housing sector will benefit from it," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Sirait, familiarly known as Ara, urged young Indonesian entrepreneurs who are members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) to immediately take advantage of the Housing KUR.

According to him, entrepreneurs can utilize the Housing KUR to improve their businesses and contribute to improving the national economy.

This program is also expected to encourage the emergence of new entrepreneurs in Indonesia.

"I ask HIPMI to utilize this Housing KUR to improve their businesses and boost the Indonesian economy," he said.

In order to socialize the Housing KUR to entrepreneurs, Minister Ara held a meeting with 10 HIPMI entrepreneurs, including the Chairman of the HIPMI Central Executive Board (BPP) for the 2022-2025 term, Akbar Himawan Buchari.

Meanwhile, Buchari affirmed his readiness to support the implementation of the Housing KUR socialization program for HIPMI members in the near future.

He also expressed the hope that his members would take advantage of the KUR, as the government provides full support for entrepreneurs who want to expand their businesses.

"A housing program like this Housing KUR is very attractive, with a 5 percent interest rate, which will certainly help entrepreneurs develop their businesses," he said.

He stated that HIPMI will also collaborate with the Association for Settlement and Public Housing Development (Himperra), the Association of Indonesian Housing and Settlement Developers (Apersi), and the Indonesian Real Estate Association (REI) to ensure the program is well-targeted, particularly in providing decent housing for workers.

"With the remaining six months of our term on the HIPMI board, we are very confident that the Housing KUR program will provide many benefits. Seventy percent of HIPMI members are MSMEs, and we are optimistic that many members will be able to benefit from this Housing KUR program," he said.
