Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's 3x3 basketball national team has started its centralized training at the POPKI Sports Hall, East Jakarta, Jakarta, ahead of the SEA Games Thailand 2025 on December 9–20.

The national team's manager, Johanes Christianto Nawawi, noted that the centralized training is participated in by 10 players selected from the national selection process held on August 12 and 13.

"Out of the 24 players who were called up and participated in the selection, the list has been narrowed down to 10 names, and they are included in the long list for the SEA Games. They will continue to be monitored until December," he said here on Friday.

According to him, two out of 10 players in centralized training are senior players who previously won a 3x3 basketball silver medal in the SEA Games Manila 2019 in the Philippines, namely Muhammad Sandy Ibrahim Aziz and Surliyadin.

There are also Nickson Damara Gosal, who played with the national basketball team in the SEA Games Cambodia 2023, and young talents like Halmaheranno Hady, Justin Jaya Wiyanto, and Jonathan Patrick Alex.

Nawawi stated that the centralized training will be held until early December, and the players will be divided into two groups to participate in the FIBA 3x3 Challenger Manila in late September and the FIBA 3x3 Challenger in Taiwan in early October.

"The composition of players for the tryouts could be different because it will be adjusted to the team's needs and the players' progress throughout the training," he explained.

After the tryout matches, the team will also participate in friendly matches with the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) teams starting from November, as part of efforts to strengthen its performance.

He further said that the coaching team will focus on developing a playing strategy and system, physical aspects, skill drills, and team recovery to strengthen the 3x3 basketball national team.
