Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has provided a total of Rp4.1 billion in funding for the revitalization of eight schools in Penajam Paser Utara district, East Kalimantan.

"This funding will help improve the quality of educational infrastructure," Ricci Firmansyah, Head of Facilities and Infrastructure at the Penajam Paser Utara District Education, Youth, and Sports Office said in Penajam on Saturday.

"And of course, it will create a more comfortable and safe learning environment for students," he added.

The eight schools in Penajam Paser Utara district that received revitalization funding from the ministry include five elementary schools (SD) and two junior high schools (SMP).

"And one kindergarten or early childhood education (TK/PAUD) also receives this assistance," he said.

The ministry's assistance program is part of a national initiative focused on repairing educational facilities and infrastructure that have suffered moderate to severe damage.

The selection of schools receiving the aid is based on data on damage to educational facilities and infrastructure verified in the Basic Education Data and on-site assessments by the ministry's technical team.

The financial assistance is primarily used for rehabilitation and revitalization, including classrooms, teachers' lounges, laboratories, libraries, restrooms, and school health units (UKS).

Each school uses self-management mechanisms, acting as an implementer of goods and services procurement projects, to revitalize or rehabilitate educational facilities and infrastructure using funds from the ministry.

Each school forms an education unit development committee (P2SP) and a technical team to design and implement the construction.
