Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry is preparing a Corporate University to drive transformation and promote a sustainable blue economy by improving the skills of civil apparatuses.

The prospective civil apparatuses participating in the program are expected to support the blue economy in line with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita vision, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said here on Monday.

"Through the Corporate University, you will learn about leadership, decision-making, organizational skills, as well as integrated technical competencies," the minister said.

Trenggono noted that the corporate university also aims to create a comprehensive, sustainable learning ecosystem. Each policy and instrument resulting from the education must have a tangible impact, such as influencing the market, boosting competitiveness, and benefiting both people and the environment.

According to him, the biggest challenge in the maritime and fisheries sector is that the population is growing rapidly, yet the supply of natural resources does not increase. Hence, natural resource management must be carried out in a wise, innovative manner to remain sustainable.

"Thus, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry's prospective apparatus must be at the forefront in ensuring the continuity of healthy seas," he said.

The minister urged the prospective apparatuses to enhance both their leadership and technical skills, emphasizing that these abilities are crucial for developing visionary leaders capable of accomplishing many tasks.

He added that the initiative replicates the Finance Ministry's corporate university model.

Meanwhile, the ministry's Head of Human Resources Training and Development, I Nyoman Radiarta, confirmed that 215 prospective apparatuses are participating in the 99-day management training program.

Of these, 81 participants with bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees are trained to become future leaders, while 134 participants with vocational degrees will focus on improving operational aspects and public services, he noted.

Radiarta emphasized that the corporate university aims to promote an inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable learning experience.
