“No one is perfect. In carrying out mandates, there may be shortcomings and errors. For this reason, I would like to tender a humble apology,” she said during the handover ceremony at the Finance Ministry headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The former Managing Director of the World Bank Group also expressed gratitude to all parties who supported her throughout her service as state treasurer.
She acknowledged fellow ministers, members of the House of Representatives, judicial institutions, the private sector, academia, media, and community groups.
She emphasized that the support, input, and constructive criticism she received were instrumental in helping the Finance Ministry refine its policies and respond more effectively to emerging challenges.
Indrawati also congratulated Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa on his appointment as her successor.
“Congratulations on assuming the crucial mandate and responsibilities of managing and safeguarding the state’s finances, and leading the Ministry of Finance. I hope Mr. Yudhi will find ease and success in supporting President Prabowo Subianto,” she told the newly inaugurated minister.
Addressing ministry officials, she urged them to continue giving their best to uphold Indonesia’s financial stability and sustain the ministry’s vital role in national development.
“I hereby declare my leave today. Please respect my privacy as an ordinary citizen,” she stated, while encouraging the public to remain steadfast in their love for Indonesia.
At the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (September 8), President Prabowo Subianto officially reshuffled the cabinet, appointing Sadewa to replace Indrawati, who had led the Finance Ministry under three different presidents.
The president also inaugurated Ferry Juliantono as Minister of Cooperatives, replacing Budi Arie Setiadi; Mukhtarudin as Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, replacing Abdul Kadir Karding; and Mochaman Irfan Yusuf as the country’s first Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
Additionally, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan and Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo were dismissed, though their successors have yet to be announced.
