"Currently, what happens in Jakarta regarding measles is that there is no spike like in the other provinces," Wibowo said here on Friday.
According to him, the surge of measles is observed in two areas, which are Cilincing and Cengkareng. However, the increase is relatively similar to last year, he pointed out.
"Thus, regarding measles in Jakarta, the situation is not as concerning as feared," he remarked.
Head of Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati stated that per September 2025, her administration noted 218 cases of measles, as well as 63 cases of rubella. However, there are no fatalities.
She informed that some 38 positive cases of measles are identified in Kapuk Village, Cengkareng Sub-district.
In response to the issue, the office and relevant stakeholders have carried out Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI), where they provide immunization to prevent further outbreaks.
"We've calculated that some children must be injected with immunization to prevent the measles from spreading. We isolate the case so it does not spread," Ruspitawati noted.
Some nine thousand children are targeted in the initiative, and currently the immunization coverage is capped at 77.22 percent. She ensured that the immunization is still ongoing.
It is aimed at improving children's immune system so it can effectively fight against measles and rubella, she noted. Ruspitawati explained that there are three doses, which are administered at nine months old, 18 months old, and around six years old or first grade.
"If in our neighbourhood there are babies, toddlers of nine and 18 months old, then we compel them, we ensure that they get measles and rubella vaccine. The immunization must be thorough, because this is one of some effective prevention measures," Ruspitawati stressed.
