Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has revoked KPU Decree Number 731 of 2025, which classified 16 documents required for presidential and vice-presidential candidate registration as exempt from public disclosure without the candidates’ consent.

“We decided to revoke KPU Decree No. 731 of 2025 concerning the designation of confidential documents required for presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs,” KPU Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin said here on Tuesday.

His office has coordinated with several parties, including the Central Information Commission (KIP), regarding the decision on the exemption of public information.

He explained that the regulation was drafted in accordance with KPU regulations, the Election Law, and other related laws.

“The KPU must also adhere to Law Number 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure and Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection,” Afifuddin stated.

The KPU also expressed appreciation for the public’s widespread input and criticism shared on social media regarding Decree Number 731.

“In the past few days, we have appreciated public participation, input, and criticism to ensure the implementation of elections with integrity, accountability, and transparency,” he added.
