The session, titled “High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time on September 22.
"The goal is to encourage as many countries as possible to recognize Palestine. This would strengthen its position in peace negotiations," said Hari Prabowo, Indonesia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, during a media briefing in New York on Saturday.
The conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, seeks to equate Palestine's position with Israel at the global level, thereby achieving peace in the region and justice for the Indonesian people, he added.
According to him, Indonesia's involvement in realizing a two-state solution for Palestine is demonstrated through its participation as a core group in advocating for recognition of the Palestinian state.
"The main initiators are France and Saudi Arabia, but there is a core group, where Indonesia took part on it. Off-screen, other parties are also making efforts to encourage as many countries as possible to recognize the state of Palestine," Prabowo explained.

He conveyed hope that more countries would officially recognize Palestine as a state before the upcoming conference on the Palestinian issue.
Several nations, including the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, and Malta, have recently declared their intention to officially recognize Palestine before the UN session.
Some other countries have previously announced their consideration for recognizing Palestine, including Canada, Australia, and Belgium.
The UN General Assembly on Friday (September 12) adopted a draft resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
The resolution passed with a vote of 142 in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions.
The New York Declaration, circulated at a high-level international conference held at the UN in late July, decided an action-oriented path for a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the realization of a two-state solution.
