Central Lombok (ANTARA) - The Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, is finalizing preparations for the 2025 Indonesian MotoGP, scheduled for October 3–5, by testing electronic systems and supporting infrastructure during the Mandalika Racing Series (MRS).

“We’re using the MRS to test all electronic systems for both race and non-race sessions to ensure everything runs smoothly,” President Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Priandi Satria said on Sunday.

Any system malfunctions identified will be fixed within two weeks, ahead of the MotoGP weekend.

Satria added that preparations for other infrastructure are also underway, pending the arrival of MotoGP logistics.

“After the MRS, we’ll repaint the track and inspect race control systems, including digital cabling. The event also serves as training for our marshals,” he said.

He further noted that if Marc Marquez secures the world title at Mandalika, it would be a milestone not only for the rider but also for Indonesia.

“Mandalika would be remembered as the Southeast Asian circuit where a world champion was crowned. This would bring massive global attention to Indonesian motorsport and tourism,” he said.

Such a victory, he added, would solidify Mandalika’s growing legacy in world-class racing events.

The circuit has a recent history of hosting championship-deciding races. In 2021, Toprak Razgatlioglu claimed the World Superbike title at Mandalika, ending Jonathan Rea’s six-year dominance.

In 2022, Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) secured his World Superbike crown at the same circuit, defeating Razgatlioglu in a dramatic season finale.

Satria said Mandalika aims to build on this legacy, hoping that the 2025 MotoGP event will further raise Indonesia’s profile in global motorsport.

“The impact of such a moment would go far beyond sport. It would showcase Indonesia’s capability to host world-class events and cement Mandalika’s place in racing history,” he said.
