Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR), Mardani Ali Sera, expressed support for the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission to deliver aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

He said the participation of Indonesian citizens in the mission sends a strong message to the international community that solidarity with Palestine arises from the people, not only from the state.

"We pray for the safety of all participants in the flotilla mission. Their struggle is a voice of humanity, reminding the world that the suffering of the Palestinian people should not be ignored," he said in a statement on Monday.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is an international civilian initiative seeking to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza. The mission carries food, medicine, and humanitarian aid, while also raising global awareness of the ongoing crisis.

Sera praised the courage of international volunteers taking part in the mission, which he described as a noble effort to bring aid and advocate for justice in Palestine.

He added that the initiative aligns with the DPR's commitment to promote parliamentary diplomacy and rally global support for the Palestinian cause.

Among the Indonesian participants is public figure Wanda Hamidah, whose involvement is seen as amplifying the humanitarian message and inspiring greater awareness among younger generations.

"Hopefully, this mission can bring a message of peace and strengthen the hopes of the Palestinian people," she said. "We believe that any humanitarian effort, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in their struggle for independence."
