Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) called for public participation to improve the quality of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) services for the nutritional improvement of Indonesian people.

"Public participation is key to creating policies that are more inclusive, applicable, and responsive to the needs of the community," Head of Legal and Public Relations Bureau of the BGN Khairul Hidayati said in a statement here on Wednesday.

This was conveyed in a public consultation forum regarding the Draft Decree of the BGN Head on Public Service Standards within the BGN in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Hidayati underscored that the BGN is calling for the active contribution of all parties to ensure the public service standards that will be implemented can truly meet the needs of the community.

According to her, the implementation of quality public services is the main foundation for building the community's trust in government institutions.

"As an institution that is given the mandate of national nutritional fulfilment, the BGN realizes that good public service standards are beyond administrative obligation, but a concrete form of our commitment to serve the community with professionalism and integrity," she said.

She further said that the draft decree is part of bureaucratic reform and strategic steps to ensure all services provided by the agency have clear, measurable, and accountable standards.

The MBG program is one of the main initiatives of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for their 2024–2029 term.

Through the program, the government aims to improve the nutritional status of children under five, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and schoolchildren up to the high school level.

The government formed the BGN in August 2024 as an agency tasked with implementing the free meals program.
