Deputy Defense Minister Vice Marshal (Ret.) Donny Ermawan said the multivitamins were developed and produced by the Indonesian Defense Forces Pharmaceutical Institute (LAFI TNI).
“This product is designed to support the government’s national MBG program,” Ermawan said at a handover ceremony in Jakarta.
He added that the launch reinforced the role of pharmaceuticals in defense, citing LAFI TNI’s production capacity in the millions as proof of its ability to manufacture quality products.
While initial distribution will cover 100 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or public kitchens in Jakarta, Ermawan said talks were under way to expand coverage.
At the same event, the ministry delivered 17.4 million medicines from the National Defense Pharmaceutical Factory to the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs for distribution to about 2,000 Red and White Village and Sub-district Cooperatives nationwide.
The medicines included Ponstal, a pain reliever made by the Navy’s pharmaceutical unit Lafial; Cefalaf, an antibiotic from the Air Force’s Lafiau; and Fimol, a paracetamol brand produced by the Army’s Lafiad.
The handover builds on an earlier distribution of 15,000 drug packages in July in Klaten, Central Java.
Ermawan said channeling medicines through Red and White Cooperative pharmacies highlighted the government’s commitment to improving public access to safe and affordable treatments.
“This initiative not only strengthens public health but also underscores the strategic role of pharmaceuticals as part of national resilience and defense,” he said.
