Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism is promoting West Sumatra’s rich gastronomic and Muslim-friendly tourism to participants of familiarization trips (famtrips).

"Through nature and cultural tourism activities in West Sumatra, participants can gain a deeper understanding of the culinary richness and the culture behind each regional specialty," said the ministry's Deputy for Marketing, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, in a written statement here on Monday.

Marthini explained that the famtrip series was held from September 30 to October 4, 2025, covering several destinations, including Padang Pariaman District, Padang Panjang District, Bukittinggi City, Payakumbuh City, Lake Singkarak, Alahan Panjang Highland in Solok District, and Padang City.

The ministry aims to position West Sumatra as both a gastronomic and Muslim-friendly tourist destination, making it an attractive alternative for domestic tourists during the year-end holidays.

Through this famtrip, the Ministry of Tourism also hopes to boost public interest in traveling #DiIndonesiaAja, especially during the Christmas and New Year season.

The event involved tourism industry players, media representatives, and content creators, who are expected to help promote West Sumatra tourism to a wider audience.

Marthini added that the activity is also intended to strengthen synergy and collaboration among stakeholders in developing Indonesian tourism, particularly in West Sumatra.
