Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Hotel occupancy in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, surpassed expectations during MotoGP Indonesia at the Mandalika Circuit on October 3–5, according to the local tourism office.

Mataram Tourism Service head Cahya Samudra said that hotel occupancy reached 100 percent, above the 80 percent target, based on data from the Mataram Hotel Association (AHM).

"Even though Mataram City is a buffer zone, hotel occupancy rates reached 100 percent," he said.

AHM chair I Made Adiyasa Kurniawan said occupancy exceeded 100 percent on October 4, a day before the race. Three- and four-star hotels were fully booked, while one- and two-star hotels reached 90 percent occupancy.

He noted that this year's figures matched last year's event, though bookings filled up closer to race day. Occupancy rose from 80 percent on October 3 to 90 percent on October 4, and reached 100 percent on October 5.

Kurniawan added that room rates this year were lower than during the 2024 MotoGP. Last year's governor regulation allowed hotels near Mandalika to triple their rates and those in Mataram and Senggigi to double them, but no increases were applied this year.

Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa earlier said the 2025 MotoGP generated significant economic benefits, estimating its contribution to the local economy at Rp4.8 trillion (around US$288 million).
