Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign ministers from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and several Arab nations have welcomed the decision by Palestinian resistance group Hamas to respond to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza.

In a joint statement issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, the ministers also expressed support for Trump’s call for Israel to immediately halt its bombing campaign and initiate the proposed exchange process.

They commended Trump’s commitment to fostering peace in the region.

The ministers described the development as a genuine opportunity to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire. They also expressed hope that this step would help ease the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting the people of Gaza.

Additionally, they welcomed Hamas’ willingness to transfer governance of Gaza to a Palestinian Administrative Committee composed of independent technocrats.

The ministers urged the immediate start of negotiations to discuss the mechanisms for implementing Trump’s proposal and to ensure that all elements are mutually agreed upon.

They reaffirmed their collective commitment to ending the war in Gaza and supporting an agreement that guarantees unhindered humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians.

The ministers also emphasized the importance of releasing hostages, restoring the Palestinian Authority’s presence in Gaza, unifying Gaza and the West Bank, and establishing a security framework that safeguards all parties.

These efforts, they stated, are expected to pave the way for the full withdrawal of Israeli troops, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the establishment of a just peace based on a two-state solution.
