Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) confirmed that all victims’ bodies from the collapsed Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Buduran, Sidoarjo District, have been recovered by a joint search and rescue (SAR) team.

BNPB Deputy for Emergency Response Budi Irawan said during an online press conference from Jakarta on Tuesday that a total of 63 bodies had been recovered from the site.

“All the bodies have been found. Of that number, 61 are intact and seven are in parts,” Irawan told reporters at the emergency response post in the courtyard of the Islamic boarding school.

He explained that, based on preliminary identification results, all bodies are believed to have come from within the school complex.

The area has been cleared of debris, making it unlikely that any victims remain at the site, he added.

However, the final number of victims will still depend on further identification by the National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team, particularly to determine whether the seven recovered body parts belong to the two victims who were previously reported missing.

Irawan said the SAR operation is technically considered complete, as no further signs of victims have been detected under the rubble.

“However, the official number of victims can only be confirmed once the DVI process is finalized,” he emphasized.
